Featured Post: California Glamour

http://www.sothebysrealty.com
Yesterday, I had the honor of being featured on LDV with this post. Here is the post in case you missed it...When I think of California, I think of large estates set on perfectly manicured lawns, stylish women dressed in stunning outfits, and views of mountains and pristine beaches. (ABOVE) Designed by Warren Callister on Belvedere Island, this stunning California home has views of the Golden Gate Bridge.  The landscaping gives the home an intimate feel. The mansard roof was a great choice as it plays up the home's elegance. (BELOW 1) Nestled behind trees, this modern home is located in Santa Barbra. It has a very 70s inspired architecture, very modern California glamour. The landscaping surrounding the home stays in line with the home's modern architecture. It's clean, simple, and well maintained. (BELOW 2) This European inspired villa is located in Holmby Hills. The front doors are absolutely stunning. The black stands out against the limestone facade. I love the tree in front of the left window. It has such an unusual form and makes a big statement as people come to the front door. (BELOW 3) The backyard of this Santa Barbra mansion is breathtaking. The many boxwoods create a nice "fence" around the pool which has sweeping views of the sea. I could see the most glamorous photoshoot taking place here. Which estate is your favorite?

The Fashion: For the looks above, I was inspired by both Malibu and Beverly Hills. The beaded Milly dress could be worn for a stroll with your loved one on the beach or to chic restaurant in Beverly Hills. The Noir necklace has both a casual vibe with the robe chain and formal vibe with the crystal pendant. It's the perfect Malibu-Beverly hills inspired piece. The Anya clutch is just the right amount of sparkle for you outfit. A little black glamour? Which piece is your favorite?

(ABOVE 4) The Mediterranean Revival, Hearst Mansion located in San Simeon, has sweeping views of the mountains and shore. The home was designed by architect Julia Morgan who had originally planned to design a small bungalow for William Hearst. After a month of discussion the decision for a small bungalow grew into a large scale castle. What are your thoughts on the Hearst Castle? (ABOVE 5) Designer Kelly Wearstler is well known for her love of Hollywood Regency. This fantastic sitting area has all the elements for California glamour. How amazing is that large sculpture to the far right? I love all the stone! What do you think of the Kelly Wearstler space?

Today's Must Have: Aug 30, 2012

How cute are these Opening Ceremony Boots? I love a bit of metallic for fall 2012. Around the bottom edge of the boots are small studs, such a great detail that gives the boots a little edge. I see these boots paired with a skinny dark washed jean and retro print T-shirt with a great blazer. These shoes are perfect for a casual look that has a bit of spunk. How would you dress up these metallic boots?

Fingernail Landscape

http://www.flickr.com/photos/alicebartlett
I really love "Fingernail Landscapes" created by artist Alice Bartlett. Alice Bartlett modeled her work with one hand and snapped the shots with the other. Her creation really does prove that creativity has no boundaries! (ABOVE) It's not everyday that you see people hanging out on your nails! I'm kind of curious as to where the girl to the far right is going? (BELOW 1) This close up shot really shows the texture of the grass on the nail. It really does look like real grass towards the tip. (BELOW 2) I must say that I love the detail of the tree. It must be pretty neat to see a tree growing out of your nail! What do you think of Alice Bartlett's work?

Featured Post: Make A Statement For Fall

http://sydandpianyc.wordpress.com
Yesterday, I had the honor of being featured on Vmac and Cheese! Here is the post in case you missed it.... With the summer coming to an end and fall fashion in full bloom, chances are you're on the hunt for the perfect accessories to complete your look. A statement handbag is a must-have for this year's fall season. It's the perfect way to spice up your look. In addition, the right handbag can make a pair of jeans and white T-shirt look very glamorous. Below, I have chosen a few statement handbags that are perfect for your look! The Lanvin handbag made me smile when I came across it. What girl wouldn't want some sparkle? It's a great sized bag that can be worn with anything. The Prada jeweled clutch is absolutely breathtaking worn for an evening on the town. Pair it with a black dress and its the perfect statement piece. For a fall rocker inspired look the Valentino rockstud frame bag is a must-have. It has that rough look, but also has a simple elegance to it. Which statement handbag are you dying for?

Now that you have the perfect statement handbag for the fall, you need a brilliant new piece for your home. Chandelier's are like jewelry for a space. They add a little shine and a whole lot of beauty. I'm very inspired by chandelier's that cause one to think, one that is a conversation piece. (ABOVE) This space was designed by Kelly Wearstler and has a gorgeous chandelier. The light fixture has its own voice in this dramatic space. Its oversize shape is definitely a conversation piece when guests first walk into the home. When you're on hunt for your new chandelier focus on a piece that suits your mood as well as works with the color scheme of your space. Thanks Victoria for having me!

A Countryside Escape

© mancini enterprises
Located in the South-Indian countryside, with sweeping of the nearby holy mountain, this home is a stunning escape from the hustle and bustle of Mumbai. The compound is comprised of three separate structures that are situated around landscaped gardens, and forests. It was designed in 2009 by Mancini architects. (ABOVE) The modern design stands out, but still has a way of blending into its natural surroundings. The thick flat roof is made of wood. I love all the natural boulders and how they fit into the landscaping. (BELOW 1) The main home is made of stucco. I am a huge fan of the unusual shape of the home. The exterior walls are not flat, but rather angular. (BELOW 2) This separate structure is raised and has views of the grounds below. The wood shutters are absolutely wonderful as they provide both privacy and ventilation. (BELOW 3) The pool house features a large overhung roof. At night the pool looks gorgeous with all its lighting. Rather than being tiled around the pool the owner preferred to have it grassed so that the area has a more natural look. What do you think of this South-Indian countryside home?

Featured Post: Wear That Astier Room

http://lookbook.elledecor.com
Yesterday, I had the honor of being featured on Shop Talk! Here is the post in case you missed it... This space featured in Elle Decor is full of brilliant retro pieces, color, and patterns. Spaces with a vintage flair hold a great place in my heart and this space does not fall short! The velvet headboard sets the tone with it's deep color and unique shape. Instead of using boring bedding, designer Jackie Astier choose to use a bright color with a great paisley type print, very late 60s! The stone coffee table is the perfect contrast to the plush area rug. The legs bring a fabulous shine into the space! What do you think of the space? When I saw this space I thought to myself...What are some great dresses that have a cool retro inspired print that you can wear?

The Issa Sleeveless dress to the left has a great abstract intarsia pattern. The flared skirt is very retro, but still modern. It's a great casual chic dress for the fall. The Diane von Furstenberg dress to the right features an oversized houndstooth pattern. It's a clean cut retro knit dress to keep you warm and stylish for the fall. Both these dress are modern, yet boast an awesome retro cut and print. A great dress needs some fabulous accessories...These accessories are perfect as they can be mixed and matched with either dress. The Frieda & Nellie necklace is definitely a must-have! It's very classic with the crystals but still retro with its woven design and cool colors. Which pieces is your favorite?

Living In The Clouds

http://www.laurentchehere.com
French photographer Laurent Chehere was inspired by the 19th and 20th arrondissements of Paris for "Flying Houses". "Flying Houses" is a wonderful series, because it allows you to see each Parisian structure individually as opposed to right next to each other lining the streets. (ABOVE) This quaint Parisian cottage is decorated with window flower beds and a cute ceramic tile roof. (BELOW 1) What a stunning large picture window. I love the old architecture of this home. The stains to the facade and boarded windows all add to the structure's history. (BELOW 2) This modern Parisian structure is not only home to apartments, but also to McDonald's (currently craving a burger!) I kind of like the graffiti, what a great backdrop to some cool street style looks. (BELOW 3) Um...fire anyone? I'm kind of short on words for this one. Did the fire take place when the structure was being photographed? (BELOW 4) This cute cottage with a view of the clouds and birds is for sale! Who wants to buy a property in the clouds? I'm a big fan of the rusted roof. What do you think of Laurent Chehere's "Flying Houses"?

Room Spotlight: Graphic Simplicity

http://www.elledecor.com
Bold graphics's are usually frowned upon in a bedroom. When you come home at the end of the day you want to relax in a neutral, simple bedroom. Don't underestimate what graphics can do for your space. They can be bold, yet you can still feel at peace in your space. This bedroom is the perfect mix of simplicity and energy. The bed is hands down my favorite piece in this space. It's an unusual shape, thus a great focal piece. On the walls are many graphic shapes. The shapes are a soft color which make it easy on the eyes. The bedside table is a dark, rich color, perfect for such a light space. The Picasso painting adds a great finishing touch! What do you think of this space? You can add as little or as much to your space as you want. Don't follow rules, just do.
