Hyperrealistic Fruits

http://vesnabursich.wordpress.com
Italian artist Vesna Bursich is an incredibly talented painter who can paint so perfectly you can't tell her work apart from a photograph. Bursich's "Still Life" series is thoughtfully planned and every shadow helps to create a fantastic near-real looking image. (ABOVE) "Arancio" is one of my favorite pieces. You can see each bend in the plastic and every bit of light and shadow. (BELOW 1 & 2) Bursich's "Apple" painting is so rich in color. To create a hyperrealistic art piece you need to have some amazing colored pencils or painting supplies! (BELOW 3) While the apple's exterior is more realistic, the inside of the apple in Bursich's "Apple" painting has a bit more of a creative flare. (BELOW 4) "Yellow Experiment" doesn't focus on one fruit specifically, but on a couple fruits. The banana looks perfect. I like how Bursich decided to use a yellow backdrop for the yellow fruits. It requires you to focus in on the details. What do you think of Vesna Bursich's work?

Building With Clean Lines

http://www.k-m-architektur.com
This simple home designed and built in Austria by K-M Architects is situated in a meadow with fabulous views of the mountains. The home was designed to appear that it's floating above the grass. Most of the materials used to build the home were found locally! Because the home is designed of natural materials it has a unique interaction with the natural landscape. (ABOVE) The home's left corner roof and lower right balcony corner appears to continue and wrap itself around the home. I like how the other homes in the area are all similar in design. It creates a much stronger architectural statement. (BELOW 1) I like how part of the home is constructed of stone and not wood. It breaks the continuous flow of the home. (BELOW 2) The views from the balcony are beautiful. You feel like you're wrapped in a blanket of wood! (BELOW 3) A closer view of the home. What are your thoughts about the home?

JFK To SFO

http://pauloctavious.com
It seems like whenever I'm flying 32,000ft above the ground with my camera, the shots never do the scenery justice. Chicago based photographer Paul Octavious, has better luck with his camera (thank goodness)! Without artists like Octavious we would never have such stunning photographs of our world below. (ABOVE) On his journey Octavious photographed wonderful landscapes. (BELOW 1 & 2) These photographs resemble a fabulous quilt or a brilliant collage. The muted colors are fantastic, as you really see each defined patch in the landscape. It looks unreal! (BELOW 3, 4, & 5) The desert looking terrain stands out against the deep blue water. Because the water is so blue it looks like a blanket. This effect creates powerful images, that should be hanging in my home! (BELOW 6) I love all the different variations in orange. I'm immediately drawn to the body of water that cuts the landscape in half. (BELOW 7) This shot looks like it was not taken on Earth. It's so odd, and really had me thinking. The green and beige disks look like they were plopped there by Aliens! (BELOW 8) The final shot is really great. I always love seeing the small cars and homes when I'm flying in the sky. What do you think of Paul Octavious's work?

Room Spotlight: Rustic Beachy Chic

http://www.elledecor.com
The more words one can add to describe a room the better! Rustic Beachy Chic, sounds like the perfect name for this space designed by Vicente Wolf for Ralph Pucci. The wall to wall curtains are a perfect way to create the allusion of a large window. The wire frame bed is simple and works beautifully in this space. I love the simple blue and white bed sheets, so fresh! The rustic wood table to the left is a cool surprise in the space. It adds definition to such a light and airy room. The Bertoia chair brings the wire theme to a 360. What do you like about this space? You can add as little or as much to your space as you want. Don't follow rules, just do.

These amazing Carven heels for 70% off are a must have! The bright color is the perfect kick to any look. I envision these shoes paired with a fantastic floral dress. Fall 2012 is all about bold florals and these shoes are the perfect touch. A chunky necklace and solid colored bag to complete the look! What kind of outfit would you wear with these shoes?

Featured Post: Prague Style

http://www.startherepa.com
Yesterday I had the honor of being featured on LDV with this post! Here it is in case you missed it...
Prague is the capital and largest city in the Czech Republic. Architecture in Prague is largely in the Medieval, Baroque, and Renaissance styles. Most of the buildings have been meticulously restored, as a result, one is able to admire the smallest of details. (ABOVE) This photo was taken in Mala Strana, a wonderful district in the city of Prague. In 1541, a devastating fire destroyed most of the city. As a result, most of the structures are in the Baroque style. I love the red roofs and colorful facades. The buildings I'm used to seeing are beige and not nearly as colorful. I'd love to own one of these buildings for a spring getaway! (BELOW 1) This photo was taken on the Charles Bridge of the Smetana Museum. The museum is in the Renaissance style, and is dedicated to the life and works of Czech composer Bedrich Smetana. I love the facade of the third and fourth floors as you can really admire the detailing in the stone. (BELOW 2) The Rudolfinum is a Neo-Renaissance music auditorium, situated on Jan Palach Square. Since the 1940s, the Rudolfinum has been the home of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. Which photograph are you inspired by?

The Fashion: For the looks above, I was inspired by the intricate details of Prague's architecture. I am a huge fan of the Dolce Vita lace dress, the dress's details is similar to the details seen on the Rudolfinum. Lace is very popular at the moment and if you're a fan of the trend then these two dress's are perfect! The Jewels California necklace has an Eastern European touch to it. The necklace would look great if paired with the second lace dress. I choose the House of Harlow flats because the pattern at the tip of the shoe is similar to the different roof patterns seen throughout Prague. Which piece is your favorite?

(ABOVE 3) A view of the city highlights the bridge and red roof tops. Prague is a highly traveled to city full of wonderful places to visit. Prague is often considered the most beautiful city in Europe. (THE DESIGN PIECES) Most of the pieces from above are from the Czech Republic. The 1960s Czech vase is from Art 1. When light passes through the vase a wonderful shadow is cast. The bronze chandelier is from Craig Van Den Brulle. The chandelier is designed by Jean Perzel who traveled to the Czech Republic and was inspired by the country's design. The 1920s Czech Art Deco walnut table is from Naga Antiques. I love the design of the table. Which piece is your favorite?
